Building a Cheap Gaming Computer: Tips to Save Money

by Julien David

Are you building a gaming computer on a tight budget? Want ideas on how to save some cash? The following tips will help you build your system for less.

Reuse Your Old Parts

A good way to save money on your new computer is to reuse old parts where possible. Strip out all the good parts from your old computer, you may be able to use these parts in your new PC.

Components such as the monitor, keyboard, mouse, floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, and computer case are good candidates for reuse. In some cases you might even be able to keep your old graphics card and sound card, leaving you with only the core components to replace, the CPU, motherboard, RAM, and hard drive.

Watch for Sweet Spot in Market

Another good tip to building a cheap gaming computer is to watch for the sweet spot in the market. The sweet spot is basically the point at which certain components are still not far behind those with top performance, yet theyve already been through price drops.

Keep in mind that new hardware releases in the market will cause older components to drop in price. You should hunt for those quality components that have been through these price drops.

Shop Around For Your Components

This is common sense, but there are people out there who dont do it. To get the best deals around on your components you must shop around and compare prices. Avoid buying impulsively, whatever you do. Instead, become an informed and smart buyer.

If you want the very best deals you will need to put in a little effort. Try to compare prices from various sellers over time, perhaps a few weeks or so to get an idea of where the hot deals are.

Gaming computers can be pretty expensive. If youre like most people, you wont have all the money in the world to spend on your new machine. So use these tips to your advantage and build your gaming computer the smart way. Always remember, be a smart, patient and informed consumer. The money you save is worth it.

Computer Hardware Preventive Maintenance Software

by Jennifer Bailey

Computers often break down at the worst of all times. These problems can be averted, or at least minimized with preventive maintenance. Several methods of keeping computer hardware in good working order deal with the external components of the computer, such as the keyboard and monitor. For example, it is important to keep the processor away from excess heat and moisture. There are also computer hardware preventive maintenance software programs that can help with the upkeep of other internal aspects of a computer.

While it is rare to find a CMMS that works on all of a computers hardware, many different programs can be utilized simultaneously. Some computers have periodic automatic updates available that can be downloaded and used to improve the computers performance. Other software programs, known as disk defragmenters, manage hard drive space so that software programs take less time to access. Programs known as hardware diagnostic utilities can check the computers hardware components and alert the user about any potential failures. Since some new hardware will not always work on all computers and could cause existing hardware to malfunction, it is important to have a CMMS program to ensure that the new hardware is compatible with existing hardware.

Antivirus programs are another important component of computer hardware preventive maintenance software. Computer viruses have become increasingly common in recent years and can render a good computer useless. While computer viruses mainly attack software programs, they can ruin hardware as well. Several manufacturers make reliable antivirus software. A couple of well-known companies are Norton and McAfee. As with much preventive maintenance software, these programs are usually available for a free trial period before the user must pay a subscription fee.

Computer hardware preventive maintenance software is necessary to keep computers in good working order. This software manages aspects of computer hardware that would be difficult and time-consuming for even the most computer savvy users.

Why Spyware is so Dangerous

by Terence Young

Spyware is software that gets installed on your computer without your knowledge and sometimes is designed to record what you type on the keyboard and send to others. What makes spyware so dangerous is that it likes to collect personal information to include credit card numbers and passwords and send them elsewhere. The most dangerous spyware is of the type that records your keystrokes and sends the information to the interested parties. Think about it. If you use the Internet to pay bills, do banking, purchase items, or look up personal information then you will inevitably use keystrokes to direct the processes. You will use keystrokes to enter credit cards, passwords, birth dates, social security numbers and many more important data items that uniquely identify you as the owner of that information.

Now no one would put software on their computer if they knew it would steal their personal information and the makers of spyware know this and came up with a solution. Another characteristic that makes spyware so dangerous is the fact that it usually installs without the knowledge of the user. How does it do this? It usually gets installed as part of an installation of desirable software you are aware of installing. In other words, the spyware piggybacks off of a software product you willingly put on your system. Viruses can install spyware also.

There are many other characteristics of spyware that add to its danger. Some spyware opens remote access to a stranger to your computer. A stranger can actually control your computer from some other location and you would never know who. There is an especially dangerous sort of spyware known as a bot. Bots, once installed on your system, can be controlled via the Internet Relay Chat protocol or channel and can do things like start emailing viruses and spam to other users when it collects all email addresses found on your computer. Then the email recipient multiplies the problem when the same bot installs on the target computer and starts emailing spam and viruses as well. If you have virus protection that checks outgoing emails. This can get especially irritating if you have a bot on your system as the virus scanner will catch every outgoing mail with this virus and drag your system down in terms of performance. It is a good thing however if your antivirus software does catch it instead of allowing it to be spread.

Another characteristic of spyware that makes it so dangerous is the fact that it can significantly degrade the performance of your computer. All of that activity engaged in by the spyware program utilizes the resources of your computer. Just having a piece of software that is engaged in creating popup ads heavily consumes computer resources. Plus, these spyware programs are not models of high-performance software. These programs are typically written by hackers who have little or no knowledge of sound software design principles and can create software that performs very poorly by consuming too many system resources.

And to sum it up, spyware is an absolute nuisance. It just makes a computing experience dreadful. Get yourself some good tools to protect against it.

Custom Gaming Laptops

by Valli L. Schieltz

Custom Gaming Laptops

Todays gaming laptop computers have huge, crisp LCD screens, full-size keyboards, and video cards that are state of the art. These computers can not only compete with the standard clunky computer tower, but they can be custom made to meet the specifications of any gamer.

A standard practice in getting a gaming laptop computer is to create a "system builder". This is a page where you can add and subtract components through drop-down menus in order to you to get the very best gaming laptop to suit your needs and budget.

The graphics processing unit is the very heart of a gaming laptop computer. It will make or break the experience you have with gaming. If your GPU is not exactly right, your games will not play.

The graphics card should not share resources with your computer. Your gaming laptop video card must have its own memory on board. Standard laptops will usually not have this feature.

A gaming laptop computer without a good screen will not be very good for you. Yes, it is true that you can connect your gaming laptop to an external monitor, but if you cannot play on your gaming computer without the external monitor, then your laptop is not very mobile.

When choosing LCD options for your gaming laptop computer, there are a few points to keep in mind.

Native resolution - This is the setting at which your gaming laptop will render the clearest images. Keep in mind that you may not use your gaming laptop solely for playing games. If you are not comfortable with the resolution, then you are not going to enjoy using you laptop much.

Aspect ratio - There are laptops that have a standard aspect ration and those that are widescreen. There are many games out there today that do not have a widescreen mode. If you want to have a perfect experience with your game, then the widescreen format may not be what you are looking for.

Rise and fall - This phrase refers to how fast the LCD can respond to changes. In the past, LCDs could not render images in games fast enough. This lag can mean the difference between just barely playing and playing to win.

Contrast - If your gaming laptop LCD has poor contrast, it could pose a problem. You must sse the game properly in order to compete effectively. You should normally look for a contrast ratio of 400:1 or higher.

Viewing angle - This is often an overlooked LCD feature. You want to make sure not to have poor viewing angles because it may prohibit others from watching the screen as you play the game.

When it is all said and dome, gaming laptop computers are all about power. Do not expect you twelve-pound notebook with various features to run on battery power all that long. Instead, make sure that you enjoy the jaw drops that you will get when you come into your LAN party location with your very own new, screaming-fast gaming laptop computer. Gaming is not only for desktops!

How To Choose The Best Gaming Laptop

by Titus Hoskins

The gaming laptop is coming of age! It is steadily increasing in popularity as performance quality goes up. Gamers now regularly consider laptops or notebooks when searching for that perfect gaming machine.

With each new generation of notebooks we are seeing some novel breakthroughs: dual core notebooks, PCI Express, Sonoma chipset, increased storage, increased RAM, faster CPUs, better battery life and better wireless connections including a Cellular Modem. All welcome news for gamers and notebook lovers alike.

Generally, gamers are a very demanding group, they know their computers and they know what they want in their computers. Most gamers like to order their gaming laptop with their own specs and configurations. In that light, if you closely examine the main points gamers consider when configuring or building their Dream Machine - you will have a good blueprint for the best gaming machine.

Since notebook technology changes every two years or so, its probably wise to purchase a laptop that can be easily upgraded as new products come on line. So consider the upgradable factor in any notebook that you plan to buy.

Now, lets look at some of these key gaming factors:

GRAPHICS

You must have the best/latest/fastest Graphics on the market. DUH!

Serious gamers are concerned with graphics, obsessed would probably be a better word. And rightly so! Graphics or the quality of the graphic chipset in your notebook computer will be your first area of consideration and it will greatly determine the gaming performance of your PC.

Go with the latest Graphic Chipset and also check to see if you can upgrade your Graphics Card on the particular machine youre thinking about buying. Many machines allow this.

Here are some Graphic Chipsets that are highly rated: ATi Mobility Radeon 9700, ATIs Mobility FireGL V3200 or Intels Graphics Media Accelerator 900.

ATi Mobility Radeon 9700 is a high quality Graphics Card or visual processing unit (VPU) present in many next generation notebooks. It will give you higher performance at a lower power level, saving battery power.

It makes your notebook computer capable of many functions: 3D games, wide-screen HDTV, dynamic presentations, mobile video editing studio and graphic processor.

Many notebooks now come with integrated graphics, where components interact and are sometimes shared, especially memory. If you want a notebook computer for 3D games - check the amount of video RAM - this is memory thats dedicated to graphic or video applications.

Other common graphic chipsets are: STMicro, NVIDIA, 3D Labs, Matrox, Trident S3 and SIS.

RAM

Get the largest amount of RAM possible. DUDE!

RAM or random-access memory will determine how much graphics your notebook computer will be able to handle. Its best to get the largest amount possible on your machine or what you can afford.

Its generally agreed that you need at least 256MB for Windows XP and Mac OS X. You will only need 128MB for other operating systems in Windows or Mac.

RAM or the amount of RAM on your notebook computer is extremely important if you want to handle heavy graphic files or want to play games on your notebook. The more RAM you have, the more applications you will be able to handle. Some notebook now come with up to 2GB of DDR2 533MHz RAM!

DDR2 SDRAM - is a new standard that can boost conventional SDRAM memory up to speeds well over 200MHz and beyond. For example, the IBM ThinkPad T43, thanks to the Sonoma Chipset or platform has 533MHz DDR 2 SDRAM.

This is much better than standard SDRAM which tops out around 150-166MHz and DDR SDRAM which starts at 200MHz and goes up to around 400MHz. Video RAM or VRAM is special memory thats used by video adapters on your notebook. This is RAM that is dedicated to handling the visuals and graphics on your notebook computer. This is helpful if you want to play a lot of the latest 3D video games on your notebook.

It is somewhat different from ordinary RAM because it can be accessed by two different devices at once - enabling screen updates while the video processor processes new data. VRAM provides better graphics but is more expensive than ordinary RAM.

SPEED

You need the fastest computer money can buy. Period!

In order to get the maximum performance from your ultimate gaming computer you must have the fastest speed you can get or afford. Your ultimate PC must be able to process and handle the latest 3D video games with ease. There is nothing as annoying as your PC freezing up in the middle of some major gaming action!

Therefore, your Processors speed is very important.

CPU or Central Processing Unit, you probably know it as the processor! Its the heart or rather the brain of your notebook or computer. It does all your computers data processing and applications. Since it does most of the work, its usually the most expensive part of your notebook computer.

Go with SATA!

SATA is a type of hard drive and stands for Serial Advanced Technology Architecture. It was developed by a whole group of companies including Seagate, Intel, Maxtor, Dell and others. SATA transmit data in a serially (in a single stream) as opposed to PATA or Parallel ATA which is commonly referred to as an IDE hard drive.

Serial ATA hard drives uses less power and are ideal for notebook computers, they are also more advanced than PATA hard drives which uses multipe streams of data - go figure! But Serial Technology carries data in a single stream and unlike PATA is not limited to a particular clock speed, Serial transfers data packets almost 30 times faster than parallel.

If top performance in your notebook is one of your goals, go with a SATA hard drive.

Intel Pentium M processors are commonly found in a lot of notebooks and laptops. When in doubt also go with a Pentium!

The speed of microprocessors is measured in MHz. MHz is short for megahertz. One MHz equals one million cycles per second. The speed of processors, usually known as clock speed, is measured in megahertz (MHz) or these days in gigahertz (GHz).

The higher the clock speed, the faster the computer will process applications and data. It determines how powerful your notebook computer will be. Processor speeds for notebooks or laptops are steadily increasing, not quite the same as a desktop but the gap is narrowing quickly. Speeds of 3.4GHz or more.

Dont forget to ask or check the hard drive speed! A 7,200rpm hard drive is faster than a 4,200rpm or 5,400rpm and usually gives better performance.

DISPLAY

You need the sharpest, brightest display screen or all the above points are moot!

Display quality is also extremely important to your gaming experience. Make sure the resolution and display quality of your notebook computer can handle the graphics for 3D Gaming.

What to keep in mind...

SVGA Resolution. Put simply, computer images are made up of dots, the more dots you have - the better the image. SVGA Resolution is made up of 800 x 600 dots.

Many notebook computer have XGA (1024 by 768 dots) or SXGA (1280 x 1024 dots), these resolutions will give a higher quality image. WXGA stands for widescreen XGA.

TFT Active Matrix Display. TFT stands for thin-film transistors and many high-end notebook computers use (TFT) active matrix liquid crystal displays.

If display quality is your main reason for buying a notebook, its best to give it the old eye test and check out the image quality first-hand and decide for yourself. Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony, and others are known for their high quality monitors - this quality is also present in their notebook display screens.

So when buying your perfect Gaming Notebook Remember This:

Graphics + Ram + Speed + Display = Perfect Gaming Notebook

Consider all the above factors before you buy or config your perfect gaming machine. Chances are high that you will get a top-notch quality Gaming Notebook that will give you hours and hours of pure gaming bliss!

Every Computer Needs Anti Virus Software

by Martin Stoleman

There are a few things in life that everyone simply needs. Il be the first to agree that we use the word "need" far too often when really we are probably wanting something rather than truly needing it. I believe strongly that everyone needs clean water, adequate food, proper medical care and a safe place to live and sleep. I will not say, however, that everyone in the world needs to drive an expensive sports car or go on vacation four times a year. As an internet design specialist, I must say that everyone who owns a computer must have anti virus software.

There is no question about it: anti virus software is a must for an internet using computer in the world. Why? Simply put, because far too many people have taken pleasure in or made a job out of messing up the security of the internet. Far too many people think that placing a virus over the internet that will effectively destroy many computers and programs is a comical thing. And this is why anti virus software is a must for all computer owners.

Anti virus software exists to combat the evil people who are at work to bring a nasty virus to your computer. A virus can come through a variety of ways and many that are seemingly innocent and unsuspecting. So anti virus software must work very hard to bring the level of protection that is necessary to personal and public computers of all kinds.

If you are unsure about where or how to get the right anti virus software for you, then talk with a friend who knows about computers or visit a store that specializes in computers and internet security. Talk through your options and do a little research to see exactly what youre getting for any kind of anti virus software. Make sure you choose anti virus software that will be effective in destroying the things you need destroyed.

You will never be fully safe to browse the internet or to use a computer until it is protected by strong anti virus software. So take some time, use some money and get your computer protected by good anti virus software. You will not see any effects of the software on your computer. Keep in mind that this is exactly the point: your anti virus software will keep you from having any problems or disfunctions with your computer and youll be able to get back to work or to play hassle free on the computer.

Martin Stoleman is an internet specialist that strongly suggests the importance of having the best anti virus software for computers. See www.antivirussoftwarehelp.info for more details.

Protecting Your Computer from Adware and Spyware

By: Amanda Huber

Recently, while checking our company web site statistics, we noticed a number of referrals from gambling and pornography sites. Since we are certain these types of sites would not house links to us, we investigated further and determined that some of our faithful visitors may be the victims of adware or spyware.

What is adware?

Adware, in it's most sinister incarnation, is a program that runs on your computer (like a virus) and occassionally pops up ads or redirects your browser to websites you had not chosen to visit.

What is spyware?

Spyware is software that collects personal information from you without your knowledge or permission. The information spyware collects can range from all the web sites you visit to sensitive information including user names and passwords.

How can I make sure I don't get these on my computer?

* Never download programs or files from a website you don't know and trust.
* Never open email attachments unless you know what they are. If you receive an email from a friend, but the text is strange and you don't know what the attachment is do not open it. Write to your friend and make sure they sent the email.
* Keep an antivirus program running on your computer at all times. You may also want to download Microsoft's Spyware program which can be found free here: http://www.microsoft.com/

Windows Repair XP

by Tom Jackson

Learn about a new way to speed up Windows XP using a new method called computer speed system design.

According to the experts at http://windowsrepairxp.com speeding up Windows XP has been a big problem for its users only because it is been approached from the wrong angle by. The correct way to speed up Windows XP is to create a computer speed system that has six specific parts. This computer speed system is a collection of several pieces to a puzzle once you have these pieces put together youll always have computer speed.

Youre very lucky to be reading this article on windows repair xp because we are going to reveal all six parts to computer speed. Youre about to learn how to eliminate computer freeze ups, prevent computer crashes, extend the life of your computer almost indefinitely, and create computer speed that youve never seen before. Now that may seem like a bold statement but most computer owners are missing one or more pieces to this puzzle. And as anyone knows if there are missing pieces to a puzzle you never get a perfect picture until you find the missing pieces.

Normally computer speed has been attempted by making changes to your computer hardware. The most popular is simply adding more memory or getting a bigger hard drive. This does work well but it doesnt solve the problem so your computer slows down later on. So, what is slowing down your computer and what are the parts to computer speed?

Computer speed has six specific parts to it when youre using only one or two of these parts you dont get the kind of speed that you really want.

The parts to computer speed are.  1) Windows XP optimization 2) Windows XP tweaks, maintenance, and adjustments 3) Spyware an Adware Removal 4) Antivirus Software 5) Software That Organizes Your Hard Drive 6) Special Privacy Software

Now in order to have a very very fast computer youll need to design a system that has all of the things above in it and working together. These are the things that slow Windows XP down and these are the things that can speed Windows Repair XP up. The six items are not new and they are no mystery to most of us whove been on Internet for a long time. The real mystery is learning how to use them properly to create computer speed.

It doesnt take much to learn and become an expert on the six items above. What it takes is the time and effort to research each of the individual items. Youll have to learn who, what, where, when, and how of each individual area. You can use the help that is available to you on many web sites like

  • Windows Repair Xp where they address all six items individually and show you how to design your own computer speed system.

The fact of the matter is computer speed is the responsibility of the computer owner not the computer itself. Your computer simply will not stay fast, safe and running well unless you address all six areas of computer speed.

The Key To Computer Security - Anti Virus Software

    by Dave Michaels

In the computer world today it is important to remember that at every second your computer is at risk of being contaminated with an ugly virus. There are many ways your computer may become infected from e-mail viruses to Trojans. These infections can cause damage to your hard drive, attach themselves to your programs, or can even spread to other peoples computers from your e-mail. It is essential to protect your computer from these invasions by using a good anti-virus software program.

There are many different types of infections that can invade your computer some of which include viruses, worms, e-mail viruses, and Trojans. A virus can be transmitted from computer to computer by attaching itself to another program. When the program is running the virus is able to infect other programs or documents. Worms are a computer program that copies itself from computer to computer through the use of computer networks. They are often used to invade security holes in software programs. The latest computer invaders are e-mail viruses. An e-mail virus moves around in your e-mail messages and duplicates as it automatically sends itself to people in your address book, which in turn infects their computers in the same way. A Trojan horse invades your computer by pretending to be a program its not. When you open the program, the Trojan wreaks havoc on your computer that can cause irreversible damage.

In order to protect yourself from such invasion it is very important to make sure your computer is safe. One thing you can do is to run a more secure operating system like UNIX that can protect your computer from traditional viruses. Another option is to buy virus protection software if you are using an unsecured computer. Avoiding programs from unknown sources, disabling floppy disk booting, and making sure that Macro virus protection is enabled, are also things that can further protect you from invasion.

The best option for protecting your computer though, is to invest in an anti-virus program. There are many anti-virus programs like Norton antivirus, McAfee, and PcCillin, and some are even free like Avast and AVG. Anti virus programs work by keeping patterns of virus infected files and compares them to the files stored on your computer. If it finds any viruses you are immediately prompted to delete the contaminated file. Make sure to up-date your anti virus software consistently, which can be done through the Internet and most up-dates are free of cost.

If you are going to use the computer it is always best to protect yourself and your precious memories from all the dangerous computer infections. When you invest in a good computer and store your information on it, you are setting yourself up for a potential disaster that many viruses can cause. It is essential that you make sure that your computer is always protected by investing in a good anti virus program.

    Computer Diagnostics 101

    by Natalie Aranda

If your PC is sluggish, the screen freezes more, the hard disk makes strange noises and/or you reboot frequently due to error messages then computer diagnostics are essential to sort out the trouble.

A complicated machine is bound to have trouble in delivering every time, smoothly. Apart from external factors sometimes, internal factors also might result in the malfunctioning or crashing of a computer. To determine the nature of the problem there are computer diagnostic tools. Though the word diagnosis means identifying and analyzing the problem, computer diagnostic tools go all the way to set things right after preliminary diagnosis. A comprehensive computer diagnostic tool would diagnose dead PCs, motherboard, power supply, memory, hard drive and the central processing unit. Data recovery diagnosis is a part of this process too.

Computer diagnostic tools flood the markets in both software and hardware form. A lot of computer diagnostic software is available for free and can be used by an end user without any technical help. The assistance of technicians may be sought to set problems like stuck keys on the keyboard, mouse related problems, rolling pictures, memory loss and loss of data with the help of computer diagnostic software.

Most of the computer diagnostic programs are easy to run and come with useful instructions that can be performed by PC users themselves, unless there is a serious problem concerning the hard disk or the CPU. Computer diagnostic programs should be run periodically by end users even when there is no obvious problem to check for troubles that might be lurking in the system. It is advisable to leave some space in the drives to accommodate the computer diagnostic software. Computer diagnostic programs would run a set of tests either individually or simultaneously to identify the problem and prepare a report. This report may be saved for future reference. After this, the computer diagnostic program would proceed to trouble shoot.

Computer diagnostic software can retrieve lost data in minutes. However, complete testing of a PC by using a computer diagnostic program may take as long as 100 hrs. The costs of computer diagnostic software is higher than the cost of computer data recovery software, as the later does a myriad of functions that includes identifying, analyzing and trouble shooting that also includes data recovery.

Windows mode computer diagnostic software is compatible with 2000, 2000 Pro, XP and 2003. DOS mode computer diagnostic programs are compatible with IBM XT, PC, AT and Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium I, II, III, and Pentium IV to name a few.

    Learn To Understand Computer Software

    by Hallidae Thomason

In this day and age there is very little excuse to be illiterate when it comes to computers, though I know a surprisingly large amount of people that still are. Our entire world, literally, commmunicates via the computer and the internet, so I suggest that it is past time that you get to know the machine that has revolutionized the face of the earth. Learning computer software is just one important step that you need to take.

Basically, computer software includes everything that makes your computer run and work the way it does. The actual physical parts and pieces of your computer are considered computer hardware. You can see why it is important to be familiar with the programs and systems that run your computer cant you? If you are overwhelmed by all there is to learn about your computer, then take a few proactive steps and youll be on the road to understanding rather quickly.

First of all, get to your local library and pick up a couple of books about computer software. Ask the librarian for some good suggestions if there are a lot to choose from. And then start reading. See what you can learn from the computer experts and authors about computer software. Another great place to begin learning is to sign up for a class that is focused on learning both computer hardware and computer software. Youll never be sorry for enrolling in an introductory course and learning a bit.

The honest truth is that the rest of your life will be dominated by people who know how to function on the computer enough to survive. So the wisest thing you can do for your sake and for the sake of your future is to learn about computer software right away. Even if you already know about computer software, I guarentee that there is still more to know. Dont be fooled into thinking that you know all there is to know about computers. The world of the computer is constantly changing and expanding, so get on board and be prepared come what may.

Taking the time to familiarize yourself with computer software will be helpful no matter what job you take or what direction your life takes. So be proactive and learn while you can. Your career will benefit and youll be amazed by the many ways you can communicate easier and quicker with the people you love.

    Keep Computer Training Simple... Please!!

    by Roger Younce

Have you ever had the experience of going to a computer training center and realized how much computer stuff you dont know? I know when I started in the computer industry in the early 90s I had trouble just remembering my password after 15 minutes of one-on- one instruction, much less how the computer actually worked. Lets face it, no one wakes up one day and says, I am a genius with this computer stuff. We all had to start some where and for most people, computers can be very confusing and intimidating. And that is where the computer trainer comes in.

Oh yeah, the computer trainer. The person that knows everything about computers and will make learning your new computer skills easy and quick. Yeah, right, fat chance of that happening. Have you ever visited a large computer training center and wondered why computers are so confusing for the client or student? The answer is usually because of the computer trainer. Most trainers seemed to have forgotten what it was like when they first tackled the "wonder box". But over time, they developed magical knowledge that no one else seemed to have.

So why would someone with so much so-called smarts not want to share their knowledge with their students? The answer is very simple. It makes them look smarter. All they have to do is through out a couple of big fancy-smancy computer words to the class and you are a genius. That is fine and dandy if a computer trainer wants to impress Bill Gates, but to the new computer user that just pulled the computer out of the box or was told by the boss they better learn that computer stuff, the trainer does the student no good.

So what does a computer trainer need to do? The main thing is to remember how they felt when they first started using the computer and how they wanted to pull their hair out when they thought they would never learn the stuff. How they were afraid to even touch the computer. Computer trainers fail to realize not all the students want to become computer geeks and nerds. The everyday user want to know how to do the simple stuff like how to do a letter, track their finances with a spreadsheet, develop a slide presentation for their company or club, or make a simple website. A trainer needs to make the complicated world of a computer simple, easy and fun for the client or student. Lets face it, not everyone is or wants to become a systems administrator or has enough certifications to cover a wall a Subway. The majority of computer users are beginners that want to learn how to be more productive at home or in the work place.

So what does it take for a computer trainer to help students learn the computer? Try keeping the computer sessions and information simple and fun. Every trainer has a big responsibility to teach others what they know so the student can be more productive. Trainers need to realize you have got to keep the training simple because if the student cant learn, you do them no good. So keep it simple…please!!

    Software Makes Processing Possible

    by Sumit Sehghal

Computers have become an important part of our life and used for day-to-day working. In every field whether it is a school, college, business, home or hospitals, we use computers. A computer system consists of various parts, procedures and operations, which are known as computer hardware and software.

Both hardware and software have equal importance. In absence on one a computer cannot work. The components that can be seen or touched are known as hardware. The term software is used for all applications and operating systems used in computer. Computer perform its working on basis of such software.

The computer software is loaded into RAM, which is a computer memory and CPU can execute it. The computer can understand only machine language but it is not possible for humans to perform working in this language so it is written in high-level language that are compiled or interpreted into machine language.

There are different types of computer software i.e. system software, application software and programming software. System software supports the different functions of a computer system. Some examples of system software are operating systems, window systems, Linux, device drivers, servers etc.

    Transparent or Covered Computer Case

    by Greg Culver

Preference of transparent or covered computer depends on the desire of the user. Many people want to see whats inside their computer and how it functions. Such people prefer a transparent computer case so that they can see inside their computer. Transparent computers are helpful in repairs or in technical learning. But some people still prefer the postmodern look and choose the old bland gray covering. Such people not even like to look at a naked computer instead.

You can see what happens inside of computer if you have a transparent computer cover. Moreover your computers valuable parts will also stay protected. A transparent computer case is the safe alternative than uncovering your computers mystery safely as leaving your computer uncovered can be hazardous, as dust, crumbs or even insects could invade the system and cause hardware damage leading to loss of data and machine.

If you want to purchase a clear computer case then several different options area available for you in the market. You can create your own clear computer case theme. Since the covering is actually transparent they can be purchased according to different colors or "shades". Special decorative lights are also available and you can add them into the case. A neon glow of your color choosing can sure make your computer as aesthetic as it is useful. You can also add colored hard drives, colored fans and colored wiring to make the look of your computer more dynamic.

These cases are available in many qualities. Their quality may vary quite extensively as some cases are just low quality window cut outs or acrylic cases. But some companies manufacture and market only clear computer cases and such companies manufactures high quality designs and use better material to construct their product. A clear computer case can also help to keep computer parts cooler in hot temperature in addition to its cool looks that drives the generation crazy for it.

Some companies sell an entire package of clear computers including hard drives, monitors, CD/DVD-ROM drive, mouse etc. with the transparent computer case. Purchasing a clear computer case will cost somewhere around $50.00 to $150.00 depending on accessories selected by the user. Cases usually come with thumbscrews and clips and front panel bay covers that may be colored or clear screws to match the theme. Extra screws will be included for hard drives, CD-ROM, power supplies, and a motherboard.

These clear computers are of tremendous value and so unsightly scratches or smudges have got to go. Therefore the most important accessory with such computers is polish and scratch removing liquid. Polish and scratch removers restore scratched or smudged clear computer case to a brand new, flawless shining computer case. Bottles of polish and scratch remover are easily available for about $15.00.

A clear computer case can be a unique and beautiful design as many computer owners personalize their computer case with graphics, images or logos. So if you have the right to look pretty then why dont your computers have the same right?

    Sources of Computer Financing

    by Vipul Jain

Computer has become a necessity today. You cannot even imagine your life without a computer. All your work is done on a computer. If you are a sales executive, you need to store all the information related to your prospective customers. Having a computer at home is very important for you if you invest in the stock market over the internet. A computer is a big help for students. Students can retrieve a lot of information related to their studies from the internet.

Although a computer is not an expensive item, yet many times people are short of money even to buy a computer. There are several sources of financing a computer. Computer dealers offer computers on hire purchase. In this case, you need to give a small amount of down payment to the dealer and take home a computer. The rest of the amount is repaid in the form of monthly installments. The dealer will charge interest at a predetermined rate. Because of this, the amount of repayment exceeds the original price of the computer.

Another easy way to finance a computer is to take out a computer loan. There are many lenders who offer computer loans. You may not find a loan specifically given to buy a computer. Lenders offer personal loans that can be used to buy a computer. Personal loans are easily available and can be taken out for any purpose. A personal loan can either be secured or unsecured. A secured personal loan is given against a property. It carries a rate of interest lower than the rate on unsecured personal loans. However, putting your property at a risk just to buy a computer does not make much sense. Therefore, you should go for an unsecured personal loan to buy a computer.

You can take out a computer loan even if you have a bad credit score. With the saturation in the traditional loan market, lenders are now quite willing to offer bad credit loans. Since a computer is not an expensive item, the loan amount can be repaid within a short period of time. The only problem is that you will have to pay the interest at a higher rate of interest.

    Computer Cases

    by John White

Computer cases are the hard outer case that houses the hardware for your computer. In basic terms, the case is what you see sitting on your desk. Inside of the case, you will find all of the components that make your computer work. It is important, then, that the case be kept in good condition and to be kept in a safe place so that it does not damage what is inside. The main components of the computer are stored inside the case. Usually, your computer case will be made form aluminum, plastic, or steel.

Computer cases can be purchased and used in many different sizes and shapes. There are many options here to fit your specific needs. The most popular choice is that of the ATX. These are called form factors which are simply another term for the size of the computer case itself. The forms that are commonly used include towers of all sizes from minis to mid to full sized options, slim desktops and desktops that are also commonly called pizza boxes. Slim desktops will actually incorporate the display into the housing as well.

The important thing to know about computer cases is that their task or job is to simply protect and store the elements that make up your computer. These will include such things as the motherboard which is the basic brain of your computer as well as the power supply that allows your computer to be turned on and off. Of course, many of the computer cases out there also add a little stylish flare to the computer as well. By far protection is the main goal of the casing but it also allows for an individual to have easy access to the functions of the computer as well. For example, the CD ROM drives of the computer are easy to access and to use right from the case. Power supply buttons are also easily accessed. On the back of the computer case, there will be areas for other computer related products to be attached to the hard drive which allows it to tap into the printers, monitors, and other gadgets that you can hook your computer up to.

If you are purchasing a computer case, you can have them custom made to fit your specific needs and your desires. There are many manufacturers of them should you need them. These range in price and style. Computer cases are essential to the function of a computer. If you are to succeed in making your own computer, youll need the case to fit well. All computers that are sold, though, will come with their own computer cases as part of the deal.

    Be Picky About Computer Keyboards

    by Martin Stoleman

If there is anything I have learned in the past ten years of being an editor that is using my computer all day, it is that it is good and right to be absolutely picky when it comes to choosing computer keyboards. If this seems like an insignificant choice to you, then it is clear that you, unlike me, do not spend the majority of your days typing on a computer.

If you did, you would quickly realize what a difference computer keyboards can make to a typing experience. It took me a couple of years to realize that there were actuallly a lot of options when it comes to computer keyboards and that I didnt have to be satisfied with a computer keyboard that didnt fit my hands.

I have probably made my way through at least eight or nine computer keyboards in the past ten years. I have learned what suites my body and my needs better and that has often caused me to go on the hunt for a newer and better computer keyboard. I have learned that there are a huge variety ofAs computer keyboards and that if you search for them, they do not have to be too expensive or hard to find.

If you are about to purchase a computer for the first time, or if you are simply looking for a computer keyboard that fits your body and your needs better, then dont rush into a purchase until you have done some research to learn about your options. A great place to begin the search for computer keyboards or any other part of computers is by visiting a computer store where the employees are knowledgable about all things computer. Stop into a local store or two and see what you can learn about choosing computer keyboards that are right for you.

Another great way to do research on computer keyboards is online. That is, if you can manage to use your current keyboard for a few hours to do the research! Look through many websites until you find the deals that are in your budget and that match your needs. Finding a computer keyboard can be a tedious process, or it can be easy if you look in the right places. The bottom line is that if you are going to be using your computer a lot, then it pays to have the best possible computer keyboard.

As an editor, Martin Stoleman quickly learned the importance of having a great computer keyboard. See www.funcomputerkeyboards.info to find the perfect computer keyboards for you.

    Computer Memory Options

    by Michael Russell

When you first purchase a computer, it may possess limited memory. Nevertheless, if you so choose, you can upgrade your computer memory later on down the road. The reasons for upgrading your computer memory may vary, but with the purchase of additional hardware, you can easily upgrade your computer memory when it becomes necessary to do so. Upgrading your memory will help increase the efficiency of your machine and your computer will be able to handle more software applications with greater ease. How can you upgrade your computer memory? Where can you get more memory so that you can have it installed?

You can upgrade your computer memory by purchasing additional memory and then having it installed into your computer tower. You will need to know who manufactured your computer, the precise product line and the model so that you get the correct memory for your computer. There are system scanners available online that can advise you about what kind of model computer you have, who manufactured it and the product line so that you can order the correct memory from a dealer online. Moreover, such scanners can advise of the memory configuration of your computer so that you can easily purchase the correct amount of memory you need.

Once you have determined the type of memory you require you can order a small chip-like device that, once installed, will add more memory to your computer. For example, if you currently have 256 Megabytes of RAM (Random Access Memory) and you want your home computer to run more efficiently, you may want to purchase an additional 256 Megabytes of RAM, which will bring your computer up to 512 Megabytes of RAM. With that amount your computer will work a lot faster, you will be able to manipulate graphics quicker and all of your software applications will work with increased speed.

With an online computer scanner, you can receive recommendations pertaining to the best upgrade for your computer. You may not require the amount of memory you think you need and a scanner can advise you about what is on your system now, and what can be on your system in the future. Further, if you purchase your memory online, you will get a guide that advises you about the proper installation of your new memory.

So, if you cant immediately afford the computer with the amount of memory you may want in the future, there is no need to worry. You can purchase additional memory when you have the funds to do so and install it when you receive your new memory in the mail. Or, if you prefer, you can bring your computer to a knowledgeable professional and have them install the newly ordered memory for you. Computer technicians are skilled at performing computer upgrades, and if your computer doesnt have any existing problems and you have purchased the right type of memory, you should have your computer out of the shop in no time whatsoever.

Be Informed When You Purchase A Computer

    by Sintilia Miecevole

When you go online or look at ads for electronics stores, you will probably be able to find a computer that will be just right for you. There are many types and styles available on the market. You can find a computer that will take up a whole room in your house, while you can also find a computer that will fit into the palm of your hand! At a business, you will probably find a mainframe computer. In your workplace or at home you will normally find a desktop computer. In the airport, the person sitting next to you could be working on a laptop computer or handheld computer. So, when you find yourself looking for a computer for your own personal use, you know you will have a lot to choose from.

When looking for a home computer, nowadays called a personal computer, you will find it is made up of several parts. There will be a box sitting on your desk, black, gray or beige in color. This is your actual computer, containing everything from the microprocessor to the memory, the storage to the input/output devices. You cant work with just the "computer" alone, though. There are accessories that go along with your computer like the monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. Other attachments you might find are printers and digital video cameras.

If you want to buy a computer, it is good to know that there are two separate categories of computers: PCs and Macs.

    - A PC is a computer modeled after components and standards created by the IBM Company. A rather high percentage of all personal computers, shown at somewhere over 90%, are PCs. Some companies that sell PC computers are IBM, Dell, Compac, and Gateway.

    - A Mac computer is a personal computer made by the Apple Company. MacIntosh was its most popular style of computer several years ago. The new IMacs are popular with die-hard Mac fans, although not as many people today use Mac computers as used to.

A personal computer in your home can be used for many things, including word processing chores, personal and business letter writing, financial records and planning, internet searching, photography, and many other types of functions like graphic design and publishing. For the younger crowd, a personal computer can also be used to listen to music, watch movies or play detailed video games.

The basic elements of your personal computer that you choose, like the processor, amount of RAM, floppy or CD-Rom disk drives, hard disk drive, sound card, speakers, monitor, modem and graphics card will be determined by what kind of computer user you plan to be. Heavy users of complex programs will need much more "stuff" on their computer than the average computer user. Once youve determined how much of everything you need, you will be able to calculate an average cost for the computer you want.

Sintilia Miecevole, host of http://www.funkycomputer.com provides you with computer information from hardware, software and accessories to printers, games, reviews and more. Be sure to visit http://www.funkycomputer.com for further news.
