4 Great Advantages Of Having A Rack Mount Computer

by Bill Johnson

1. Really provides better cooling for your computer hardware

We all know that heat can really kill the motherboard, processor and other chips that are found in a computer case. If the temperature is too much it can fry the chips and leave your computer worthless. The more work you do, the longer you do it, the higher the workload on the pc. This causes heat to build up inside your computer. The traditional cooling fan that you can find on the back of the power supply of your computer is normally not enough to get it all the cooling it needs. Even with the other fan attached to the processor chip, your computer will most of the time not get all the cooling it needs.

If you were to use a rack, this would help to give your computer the cooling it needs, since it gives you a lot more space, unlike computers that dont have racks.

2. Youll have better air circulation

Without adequate space for your computer, there wont be good air circulation and this can damage many things in your computer. A rack mount computer therefore gets better air circulation than one without it. And this goes a long way in protecting your computer.

3. Prevents vibration when playing load music

Good computer racks out there have vibration-dampening tendencies to prevent the vibration of your computer- especially when listening to load music from your speakers. Without these vibration-dampening tendencies, your speakers and even compute can slowly slip off your desktop, thereby causing damage.

4. Give more space for your computer

Your rack mount computer has more space than others without one. You are able to do more work than if you didnt have a rack for your computer.

If you take all the above advantages into consideration you will come to find that using a rack mount computer instead of one without a rack is the way to go.

Software - the real power of your computer system

by Gurpreet Sekhon

Software is the short name given to computer software. Anything, which can be stored automatically, is known as software. Both hardware and software are different from each other. Without hardware, software is useless and without software, hardware is nothing.

Software gives instructions to the computer system what to do. Some examples of software are Picture Easy, Word and Photo shop. All the programs, practices, system and any citations related with the operation of a system are known as software.

There are mainly two different types of computer software: system software and application software. It is very important to know the exact difference between the two.

The software that makes your computer work is system software. It is also known as operating system software. System software includes all the programs that organize and hold up functions of your computer system. It comprises a variety of programs, which includes communication control programs, DBMS, operating system and programming language translators. It acts as the mediator between the computer hardware and application programs.

Application software carries out the dedicated tasks of the user. It processes the computer data and hold-up users in an organization. Some examples of application software are word processors, spreadsheets and database management systems, various engineering packages, groupware like Lotus Notes etc.

The computer software is totally different from computer hardware. Hardware means the physical components of a computer system. The computer software cannot work without hardware because it is needed to store and run the computer software. Computer software is mainly loaded in computer memory RAM (random access memory) and executed in the central processing unit (CPU). Generally, high-level languages are used to write computer software.

Whats The Best Computer To Buy - 3 Tips So You Don't Get Caught.

by Zachary Black

If you are looking to buy a computer and dont know whats the best computer to buy. Before you spend all that money, you should determine 3 important things, if you dont youll probably finish by buying a real expensive computer for nothing.

Whats the best computer to buy tip 1 You should determine what you are using your computer for. If you are buying a computer for strictly typing, it will cost you much less. You dont need all the technology a person who wants a computer to play the latest games will. Like the latest audio and graphics card.

Whats the best computer to buy tip 2 You should also determine your budget. Its not necessarily whats the best computer thats important, the question should be whats the best computer that fits your budget. There are always some extra gizmos you wont necessarily need, like a laser printer or the great speakers. If you already own a previous computer you can actually reuse some of your old stuff (mouse, keyboard etc...)

Whats the best computer to buy tip 3 Another important thing is actually the garantee. Computers are expensive, and if you can get a good warrantee on your computer, if ever it breaks you could actually get a new one for no cost. Even if you had the best computer in town, in can break down.

I hope these tips were helpfull in answering Whats the best computer to buy for you. Its all about what you need, and adapting the computer to you, and not the opposite.

Did you know you can actually get a computer for an extremely low price. Lower than anywhere else! How low? Some are actually FREE.

Interactive Computer Games

by Daniel Thomas

Times have changed since we used to gather around the kitchen table for a game of cards. These days, weekly poker games or impromptu euchre parties are played online. The computer age has changed everything -- including the way we play.

The terms "video games", "computer games" and "PC games" are often used interchangeably. Although not always identical, these are generally computer-controlled games that players can interact with. A Personal computer game refer to the games that are played on a PC, while the term "video game" refers to games that are played through the TV. Some "video games" are console or hand held devices (i.e.: Gameboys) and others can be played on personal computers, mobile phones or PDAs. Another difference also between a console game and the video game, although these can be used interchangeably, is that a console game is played on a specially designed box that plays through a TV (i.e.: Xbox).

Video games outsell PC games by as much as four to one. This is because of the limitations that are often specified on personal computers. In order for the game to play well, the PC has to meet certain specifications. If the access memories, system clock speed, hard drive space, processor speed or Internet connection are not in sync, the game will play poorly or wont play at all.

Even so, interactive computer games have become a big business worldwide. Not long ago, people spent hours batting a dot on the screen between two bars of light. The "Pongs" of yesteryear can no longer hold the attention of most interactive computer game fans. Computer game development has been quick and absolutely massive. Businesses across the world have picked up and cashed in on the limitless potential of the interactive computer game craze. Programmers and game developers are creating games with graphics that can easily compete with the clarity of a television and the sound of a home stereo system. Even the most discriminating eye will appreciate the literally millions of colour combinations used in todays games.

There are thousands of interactive computer games available and while there are rules, the players are free to roam within the virtual universe. Games can be divided into a few basic categories, and some incorporate more than one:

* First person shooters * Second person Shooters * Third person Shooters * Platformers * Racing * Real time strategy * Role-playing * Simulation

Interactive computer games are so popular that there are numerous websites magazines dedicated entirely to the market segment. Microsoft has their own "official Xbox Magazine", plus there are Sonys "Official US Playstation", Nintendo Power, Amped News, Gamepro, GameSpot, IGN, Game FAQs, and Game Spy.

The industry is so hot that even television networks are running TV programs about interactive computer game playing. Worldwide competitions are held, cartoon characters and trading cards reinforce the mass appeal, and T-shirts are sold featuring favorite game characters. Interactive computer games have moved beyond boredom-busters to important elements of modern pop culture.

With so much popularity comes responsibility. All games receive a rating, much like a theatre rating, to help users choose. Games with graphic scenes or extreme violence are marked "A" for adult or "R" for restricted. Obviously these games are inappropriate for children, but there are many titles on the market that can provide kids with education, interaction, social skills and hours of fun. Parents need to share the responsibility and choose games suitable for the age of the child. Some games are programmed with parental controls that parents can set to block scenes or situations that may not be appropriate for younger players.

Now you can play a round of poker, start a euchre tournament, play chess or backgammon, shoot a game of pool, drive a Ferrari or take on a rogue battleship any time you like. With interactive computer games, you never have to find a deck or cards or wait for another player. Just plug in your favorite software and have a virtual world of fun.

Daniel Thomas writes for several web sites, on sports and recreation and travel and hobbies topics.

Software - instructor of computer

by Anuj Sharma

A computer system consists of different parts, programs or components. Each and every part has its own importance or working. In simple, we can say that hardware means all physical components of a computer and software is a set of certain instruction, rules on the basis of which other components work.

Software instructs a computer what to do. There are different types of programming languages, which make computing possible. There are three different types of computer software: system software, programming software and application software.

System software consists of programs that controls, integrates and looks after the hardware components of a computer system. It mainly consists of operating systems (OS), database management systems (DBMS), communications control programs, and programming language translator.

Programming software helps a user to write computer programs and other programming software languages in a proper way. The Application software will take care of different tasks other than just running the computer system.

Random access memory (RAM) is the computer memory in which computer software is loaded. There are different types of software available in the market. For e.g. Antispyware Software protect your computer data from virus. The software consistency mulls over the faults, mistakes and breakdown that are related with the formation and operation of computer software.

Find The Best Computer Hardware

by Triston Huntsmin

In our age, owning a personal computer is something that most people have the luxury of. In fact, I know several people who have multiple computers in their home and at their office. As the popularity of computers and the internet have grown in the past decade, so has the need of the people in having a computer to call their own. Sure, they can go to a local computer shop and purchase a desktop or a laptop computer, but more and more people are opting to put together a computer from separate pieces of hardware.

Computer hardware is basically all of the parts of your computer. Your screen, your keyboard, your tower, your disc drives. All of the parts that make up your computer are considered its hardware. Hardware is not to be confused with the software of a computer which is its programs and the things you can do on a computer.

The growing trend of building your own computer or of having someone build one for you can be a great alternative to purchasing a computer from a large company. This process of computer building is much easier, however, when you have a friend or two who knows the details of computer hardware and who will help you learn as well.

If you are wanting a homemade computer with hardware from a variety of companies, than your first step is to do what I have already suggested: find a computer expert and enlist them to help you in the cause of finding great hardware for your computer. The chances are high that they will know just where to find hardware for you whatever your computer wish may be.

Looking for computer hardware to build your own computer can be a bit overwhelming. The important thing is just to start. Start by looking in your newspaper and in other sources of local news to see what kinds of computer hardware are available for sale. Often times businesses will be upgrading their computers and will sell their old hardware to the public at very reasonable prices. Just keep your eyes pealed for these deals and youll be collecting computer hardware in no time. Make sure you have a detailed list from your computer expert friend of what you will need so that you dont make any mistakes with your purchases.

Another great source for buying cheap computer hardware is to look online. There are warehouses of hardware pieces just waiting to be sold to the public at discounted prices.

Triston Huntsmin is a computer programmer who has recently begun helping friends and family purchase computer hardware to build their own personal computers. See www.finecomputerhardware.info for more.

Computer Hardware

by John White

Computer hardware is the physical aspect of the computer. It is the hard or things that can be touched elements of the computer. This is as opposed to computer software which would be the data on the computer or the programs that are used on the computer. Most of the time, many aspects of the computers hardware will not change, but they can be if needed. It should be pointed out that computers are not even close to being the largest selection of computer hardware. In virtually any type of product that has a computer system, hardware is installed onto the computer to allow for it. This can be anything from electronics to the microwave oven in your kitchen. Computers only make up about two percent of the total of hardware used today.

Computer Hardware On The Computer

On your computer, there are many types of computer hardware that you use each time that you turn on your computer. The main part of the computer is the motherboard or the brain of the system. These will have areas called slots that will allow for expansion cards to be added to them. The CPU or central processing unit of the computer is the part that is inside your computer case, or the element in which you will be placing your CD ROMs or your other connections. RAM, Random Access Memory is another type of hardware. It is a type of memory that is used inside the computer for short term memory needs for storage of data. This allows your computer to run faster and easily get the information that it needs to do just that.

Buses are another type of hardware that is found on your computer. These are things such as PCI bus, USB, or PCI-E or AGP bus. The power supply is another element of hardware on your computer as are the storage controllers. These include IDE, SCSI, and other types. This is the element of your computer which will allow your hard disk to work, your floppy disk and your CD ROM. These can be added to in order to expand what your computer can do.

Even more types of computer hardware include the video display controller, computer bus controllers, CD ROM Drives, CD Writers, DVD Drives and Writers, and many of the elements of the function of the computer.

Now, on the outside, computer hardware can even include things like your mouse, your keyboard, your trackball, joysticks, game package, speakers, image and video devices, microphones, printers, monitors, headsets, and web cams.

When selecting any and all of the types of computer hardware for your computer, you will want to insure that the computer is capable of working with them as well as insuring that they are the ultimate of quality. Luckily, many of these options can be purchased right on the web.

The World’s First Infant Safety Computer Game

Kiddiesgames.com has just released the world’s first infant safety computer game - a game to practice dialing emergency on the telephone.

(PRWEB) November 2, 2004 -- Kiddiesgames.com believes that it is offering the world’s first infant safety computer game - a game to practice dialing emergency on the telephone. At least 2 North American children under the age of 5 years old successfully dialed 911 on the telephone in an emergency this year (2004). A paramedic spokesman in one of the cases is cited as saying that the child's actions are a compelling illustration of the need to train children in emergencies.

After hearing these stories and in response to a customer request for safety software for infants, Kiddies Games created the computer game “Call 911”.

Actually, there are a few versions the game. “Call 911” is for USA and Canada. There is “Call 999” for England and the UK, “Call 000” for Australia, “Call 111” for New Zealand and “Call 112” for Europe.

Children who are that young dial the telephone by remembering the positions of the buttons to press on the telephone rather than by actually recognizing the numbers. Thus, the game is carefully designed to emphasize button positions and sequence.

As with all KiddiesGames, the game is designed to be fun and always positive, subtly showing the child the correct answer when necessary and cheering the child when they do dial the correct numbers. Thus, while subtly teaching new skills to small children, the game is always one of open-ended exploration and positive feedback for the self-esteem, which KiddiesGames believes are the most important ingredients of good infant software.

KiddiesGames provides various free online educational computer games for babies and preschoolers at http://www.kiddiesgames.com. Offline download versions of the games can be purchased at http://www.kiddiesgames.com/en/downloads.php. You can sign up for a newsletter announcing new games at http://www.kiddiesgames.com/en/babygames.php#enter_email. How To Buy The Right Computer

By: Jackson Morgan

How To Buy The Right Computer

What's Right For Me?

Sometimes, when trying to figure out the differences between
RAM, processor speed and hard drive size , it seems like you
need a degree in computer science. But it can be simplified
into layman's terms.

On the same note, you can’t take it too lightly, because
there is a lot to think about. Believe me, the purchase of a
new computer can affect you sanity for the next 2-5 years.

I read an article that stated most Americans ask: “What do I
want?” Instead of: “What do I need?” when they go shopping.
Now, if money is no object, stop reading this and return to
your carefree life of Lamborghinis, Beluga, and chilled
three olive Martinis. Otherwise this may help you in
deciding on your next purchase.

Can I go no frills?

------------

Yes, there are some good no name brands that will work just
as well. However, (Personally) I prefer brand name PC’s to
the no frills isle. The $50-$75 that you save for going the
cheaper way may cause you headaches when a warranty issue
comes around.

Does size matter?

------------

I did a quick survey and contrary to what we would like to
think, size does matter. I mean it’s pretty simple when you
think about it, the larger it is, the more information you
can store on it. (What did you think I was talking about;
get your mind out of the gutter) Seriously, if you write
essays/proposals for school or work, play a lot of games, or
have tons of music that you would like to store, you’ll need
to make sure you get a hard drive with practical size.
(80-120GB should be fine for now, if you need more space in
a year or so you can look at an external USB or Firewire
HDD)

How fast is fast?

------------

In order to answer this you will have to ask yourself one
question. What am I going to do with my new PC? If you are
using it for checking emails, writing letters and surfing
the web, save yourself some money and go with the Celeron
processor and standard RAM package. If you are going to play
games, develop graphics and use your PC as a TV/stereo,
you’ll need to go with Pentium or equivalent processor and
boost your RAM to 1GB or what ever you can afford.
(Remember, more RAM (memory) is one of the best ways to
speed up your PC)

Bring On The Noise!

------------

This is simple, if you plan on using your PC as a TV or
stereo, I suggest the latest greatest sound card along with
some kicking speakers. (7.1 surround sound really responds
nicely)

What operating system do I need?

------------

Again, we need to ask the same question. What am I using
this PC for? (See a Pattern)Email checking, Web surfing,
Game playing junkies – Windows XP Home/Professional is your
choice (If you have a choice, always go with the Pro). Home
theater watching, MP3 ripping, picture taking extremists –
Windows Media Center is your puppy.

What You See Is What You Get!

------------

Video can make or break your PC. Standard users need a least
64MB of video RAM. I recommend 128MB or better for
everyone.

Is flat better?

------------

Yes, the technologies with the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)
displays have made major improvements in the last few years.
Also, the space saved is worth its wait in gold. Go flat.

Breakdown

------------

If you plan on checking emails, surfing the web, writing
letters, here is your PC.

Brand name – Whatever you want (I recommend Dell);

Hard drive size – (80-120GB IDE drive);

Memory – (256-512MB);

Processor – Latest Celeron processor will do;

Sound – Integrated sound card and 2.1 speaker system
will be fine;

Operating system – Windows XP Pro or Home;

Video Card – Integrated is fine, but you should have
between 64 and 128MB of RAM;

Monitor – 15”-17” flat panel.

If you are going to play games, create a home theater or
stereo it up. This is what you will need.

Brand name – Whatever you want (I recommend
Alienware);

Hard drive size – (250-400GB SATA drive);

Memory – (1-4GB);

Processor – Latest greatest Pentium or equivalent;

Sound – Audigy 4 Pro will suffice, along with the
Creative Power Pak 7.1 speaker system;

Operating system – Widows XP Pro or Media Center;

Video Card – ATI all-in-wonder X800 XT;

Monitor – 19-21” Flat Panel or DLP projection screen
for home theaters.

Should You Buy A Cheap Computer Desk?

by Ken Marlborough

Cheap computer desks are generally used or second-hand computer desks. Information about cheap computer desks is available in classified ads in the newspaper. It is also available in websites like e-bay, Amazon, Tigerdirect, Argos or in specific websites related to furniture. Though they are used, cheap computer desks can be in pretty good condition. Second-hand furniture shops, "repo" men and flea markets are also good places to look for cheap computer desks.

Cheap computer desks can also have style while they also serve the purpose. A cheap computer desk is always better and more economical alternative to using a standard office desk as a computer desk. Since working on the computer needs certain ergonomic comforts, it is always ideal to go for a cheap computer desk.

There are some points to be considered while choosing cheap computer desks. They are: ensure that there is ample desktop space for the monitor as well as for other accessories such as the printer/scanner; there should be shelves for storing files, documents, CDs, books etc; there should be a slide out keyboard tray; there should be scope for expanding the size of the computer desk in future. Even cheap computer desks sometimes come with manufacturers warranty.

Cheap computer desks can be corner, u-shaped, curved or just straight. Similarly, they can be roll-top, modular, or just practical. They can be made of wood, oak, glass, metal or fiber. They can be fitted with all kinds of shelves or storage racks or they can be just plain with the minimal drawers and shelves. With all of these options, you should be able to find a cheap computer desk that is right for you.

Computer Desks Info provides detailed information on corner, glass, roll top, home, child, oak and cheap computer desks, computer desk hardware, and more. Computer Desks Info is the sister site of Office Chairs Web.

Get computer finance to buy your own computer

by Gurjot Sandhu

Today, computer has become necessity or we can say that life without computer is not possible. Whether you are a businessman, doctor, sales executive, chemist or in any other occupation, you need a computer. It is very important to have your own computer. Computer teaches you, your children and your whole family.

Computer is not very expensive but due to shortage of money some people cannot buy it. There are many different sources of financing a computer which are explained as below:

You can buy computer on hire purchase from dealers. In hire purchase, you have to make a small down payment and take computer to your home. The rest amount is paid in the form of monthly installments and the dealer will charge interest.

Another way to get computer finance is a computer loan. There are numerous providers of such loans. Such lenders offer personal loans that are easily available and used for any purpose. You can buy a computer with the help of your computer personal loan. A personal loan is of two types: secured or unsecured. A secured personal loan is given against some collateral. But unsecured personal loan is the best option to buy a computer. The rate of interest charged on unsecured loan is higher as compared to secured personal loans.

You can also apply for a computer loan even with bad credit. It isnt always easy, but not impossible. The rate of interest on such loans is high as compared to other types of loans.

Building A Computer Introduction - Why build a computer?

by Chris Silop

Building A Computer Introduction

If you are reading this article, you are probably wondernig, why and how do you build a computer. Building your own computer is more simple than you think and has many benefits.

Why Build A Computer? Building a computer has many benefits over buying a premade. First of all, it is generally cheaper if you build your own than buying one. If you shop your components, your DIY(Do it yourself) computer will be cheaper than its premade equivalent. If you build your own computer, it will be faster than one that is premade, because most computer manufacturers use cheap components and try to cut corners to cut down costs. Additionally, your self built computer has more room to upgrade if you so decide to in the future. Prebuilt computers usually only have enough expansion slots for the components that are going to be in the computer. Because of this, your prebuilt computer will become obsolete sooner. Also, building a computer is a satisfying experience and you will learn more about how your computer works.

How do I go About Building a Computer? Building a computer is probably much simpler than you think. Especially now, things have been simplified and standardized. First, you pick out components and make sure they are all compatible. Once you get the parts, you put them together! This guide was made to show you how to do everything and contains pictures and good information to make building a computer a fun and rewarding experience. Getting A Rack Mount Computer

by Jeff Jefferson

Who says that only professionals need rack mount computers? This is a very erroneous assumption that many people have about rack mount computers.

Anyone, including you who are confronted with the problem of how best to handle your computer, surely needs a rack mounted computer. One of the biggest mistakes people make is that they think they are far better off not buying one.

The argument that only professionals need rack mounted computers certainly springs from the cost of acquiring one. But what should be clear is that if you can afford it, why not go for it instead of the normal computer. A smart person would take a rack mount computer over a regular computer any day of the week.

You need a rack space for your computer. In other words, you need a rack mounted computer to ease your work with the computer, even if you are not a professional.

Before going into details on why you need a rack mounted computer, it is necessary to familiarize ourselves with what a rack mounted computer really is.

Many people are not very clear on exactly what it is.

A rack mounted computer is simply computer that is mounted on a metal frame (other wise called a rack).

To prevent use of inferior computer racks, the Electronics Industries Association (EIA) has provided standards for computer racks. This standard helps to ensure that you only get to use the best computer racks for your computer.

Note that there is a big difference between a computer rack and a computer cabinet. The computer rack is the frame used for mounting the computer, while the computer cabinet is fitted with doors and usually side panels- and used to put in the computer.

Free Online Games - The Secret Of Popularity

by CD Mohatta

Free online games are becoming hugely popular. Since the day the games were introduced on the Internet, the popularity is growing exponentially. What are the reasons? Let us discuss.

Convenience- most of the population now has access to Internet. The games are free and easy to play. The convenience is the first reason of popularity.

Killing boredom - television became popular as a medium of entertainment. It gained so much acceptance because it can help us kill boredom. When we do not know what to do, television keeps us busty. Online games are similar but better than television. Watching television involves no other activity. While playing online games involves activity.

Excitement- Most of the online games are exciting. Matching wits with computer has a thrill and that thrill makes the players play more. it is the test of players skill and the computer. That excitement can make people play for hours.

Winning feeling- the feeling of winning cannot be described in plain words. That has to be experienced. When the player wins against the computer, it gives a high and raises self-esteem. It is a great hormone booster.

Nothing becomes popular unless it has value. One can try to sell anything, but success will be achieved only when the user gets a value. Online games have value for users and hence are becoming popular.

The article author, C.D.Mohatta recommends the website Your Fun Games to you. Play free online games and arcade games at this website.

DO NOT Buy A Game Console Until You Read This Report

by Aaron Snider

Its has been a crazy holiday season once again. Three mainstream gaming systems have hit the stands and are flying off the shelves at amazing speeds. Of course Im talking about the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the Nintendo Wii. All 3 are great consoles and have great potential, but one definitely stands above the rest.

Lets take a closer look at the three systems.

The Playstation 3 offers the best graphics of the 3 consoles hands down. The technology enlisted to create this machine is nothing short of extra ordinary. The Ps3 uses a Cell Broadband Engine to deliver the most amazing graphics I have ever seen in a video game console. Also its Blue-Ray-DVD is the latest generation of DVD readers that boasts the highest resolution of any DVD format on the market. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) allows you to enjoy the highest performance in HD on either an HD TV or conventional TVs. You also have the choice of on board hard drive, either 20GB or 60GB for ease of storing information for fast and easy access. In addition the PSP can be plugged into the PS3 to exchange movies, photos, or music. The PS3 will also run all PS1, PS2, CDs, and DVDs. For graphics this is the best system available.

The Xbox 360 is another great system. The technology in the Xbox 360 is much like a computer, Surprise! Built by Microsoft its easy to understand that Xbox 360 is largely built toward those that game online. The core of the system boasts a 512 MB shared system/video RAM, a custom, symmetrical, three-core CPU with each core running at 3.2Ghz; and a custom-built ATI Graphics processor with unified shader technology. Also a 20 gig hard drive (not in the core pack) to save your games, You can also download previous Xbox titles straight from the internet. Throw in wireless controllers, headset, and Ethernet capability and your all set for some serious online gaming. This is a great system all in all, the best online support, Xbox live (Xbox online community) and the best computer support makes the Xbox 360 a force to be reckoned with.

Finally the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo has done it again. Nintendo has long been known for changing the gaming world. With the new controller system for the Wii, Nintendo is dominating the market once again. Nintendo has used an infrared system to make the user interface wireless. You have to move your hands to swing your sword in Zelda, swing both hands to box, and make a bowling motion to bowl in the Wii Sports game. This is an amazing interface. While playing with my kids a couple nights ago, I actually started to break a sweat playing tennis. In a world where video games have made us lazy Nintendo has really made it fun to get a little workout after work or school. This game console actually pulls you into the game, making you the hero or athlete you have always wanted to be. The console sits next to the TV, not floating around the floor to get kicked or stepped on. The sensor bar lives on top of the TV and picks up your movements and displays the result of your physical actions on the screen. The Nintendo Wii is simply an amazing system. The graphics so far arent jaw dropping, but the user interface more than makes up for it.

To sum it all up...

We loved all 3 systems. The Playstation was a little more expensive than we liked and the lack of games currently available made the PS3 our least favorite, although its an amazing system. The Xbox was also a great system, but we didnt feel like anything too new was introduced with the Xbox 360, seemed more just a newer model of the Xbox. Better graphics and great internet abilities, but not #1 this year. For our money the Nintendo Wii took the trophy. With a small price tag, and the best user interface innovation we have ever seen the Wii is the one to own.

We have included the latest auctions on the Nintendo Wii below. Bookmark this page and check back often for auctions ending soonest.

Video Game Rentals - The Future of Video Game Renting

by John Hinkle

Video game rentals have always been a great way for gamers to enjoy a variety of games without forking out major cash to do so. For many years, video game fanatics have enjoyed the ability to test out their reputable games before they make that commitment to purchase. With new developments emerging within the online video game rental arena, such online services like GameFly and Gottaplay have been providing even more trouble-free way of testing out a variety of video games. Well take a closer look at these services below.

GameFly - The First Video Game Rental Company Emerges
GameFly is the very first online video game renting provider to step out on the scene as of early 2003. This company established its presence due to the lack of classic and newer release video game titles that were absent from many of the brick-and-mortar type companies (Blockbuster & Hollywood Video) found within your local area. The founders of GameFly Sean Spector and Jung Suh were very frustrated with the lack of choice, quality, and selection displayed from these video establishments. This led them to search online where they could not find anyone serving the online video game market. Shortly thereafter, both founders decided to leave their full time jobs to pursue their dreams with their very own web based video game rental service. This innovation has changed video game rentals as we know it today.

Renting Video Games Made Easy
GameFly has always followed the beliefs of the majority of video gamers around the world. This belief system was formed during the inception of GameFly and still stands strong today as the backbone structure for all other online video game renting services. This structure is contains the following:

· Gamers need easy access to both classic and newer titles within one company.

· Gamers want to have the choice of keeping a game for as long as they want for a reasonable rate.

· Gamers do not want to spend their money on bad games and should have the choice to send these games back without spending more money.

· Gamers like the ability to receive their favorite video games to their home address without making another trip to the local rental store.

· Gamers should have the option to view other gamer reviews, ratings, and comments as to avoid wasting their time on bad games.

· Gamers should be able to purchase high-quality used games with significant discounts off the retain pricing.

Setting the Standard for Online Video Game Rental Companies

Ever since the GameFly established its presence within the online game rental marketplace, many have followed in their footsteps. Countless game rental companies have come and gone with the trends of the industry, but there are a few that plan to stay. Gottaplay Interactive Inc. is one of these companies. Gottaplay seems to be the only company in 2006 that has gained a lot of credibility and market share within this industry in such a short amount of time. This company is currently giving GameFly a run for its money, with over 2,500 visitors subscribing to the service monthly. They have spent over 18 months developing their premiere game distribution software and currently launching 1 distribution center a month at the beginning of 2006. Even though Gottaplay Interactive has not launched their commercial advertising yet, they plan to focus primarily on their word-of-mouth referrals and online presense for the next year.

Other video game rental businesses are following close behind with Intelliflix trailing a close third. This company has established their own genre within the rental realm by dabbling within the movie rental, game rental, and mature movie rental arena. Even though Intelliflix does not plan to take over the game rental industry, they do plan to offer families the ability to rent for all their household member entertainment needs within one established group. Customers will enjoy a wide variety of entertaining media from this company for years to come.

Video game rentals will always exist as long as there is a market for the industr, which we all know wont be going away for at least the next century. Crack your fingers, grab a soda, and get situated in your favorite chair because there are a lot of video games to be played out there and with so many choices to choose from, the only hard part is...where to go.

Video Games: The Past & Present

by Taisha Grant

Video games have a longer history than people realize. Many people assume that video games started only in the early 1980s. The history of video games actually goes back as far back as the end of World War II.

First, there seems to some confusion between what a computer game is and what a video game is. A computer is a game is controlled by a computer. You use a PC or a Macintosh to play the game. The device that you use primarily for a video game is a monitor or television. You usually must attach a device to the television to play. The device is called a video game system. Some examples of video game systems are Sony Playstation 2, Xbox and Nintendo Entertainment System. You can only see the game by attaching the game system to the monitor.

The first games were on computer, but without these games, they would not have been able to develop the video game system. They were usually on the technology that existed at the time such as oscilloscopes, university main frames and EDSAC computers. The very first computer game was a missile simulation game created by Thomas Goldsmith and Estle Ray Mann. A.S, Douglas then invented a tic-tac-toe game to be a part of his thesis at Cambridge University. You played this game on a very large Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator (EDSAC) computer.

In 1958, after being best known for his participation in building the first atomic bomb, he created a tennic computer game to entertain people that attended Brookhaven National Laboratorys open houses. At MIT, in 1962, a man named Steve Russell made games called Spacewar and Johns Great Adventure for a PDP-1 mini-computer. In 1968, Ralph Baer was the one who invented the video game by creating the first video game console called the "Television Gaming and Training Apparatus." You could play a tennis game that was highly similar to arcade game called Pong. He later worked for Magnavox to create a video game console called the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972.

Americans jumped on the band wagon in the 1970s; the rest of the history of the video game console has been dominated by the Japanese. Nintendo and Sony, Japanese companies, have pretty much dominated the market since 1985. Nintendo is known for creating well-known characters like the Mario Brothers. The Mario Brothers were so popular that a movie was made about them. Sony is known for creating the PlayStation, the first video game console to have 32-bit technology. This allowed video games to have a 3D feel.

How To Find A Cheap Computer Game?

by Jeff Clark

A cheap computer game does not always mean an old or boring game. If you have some patience and know where to look, you can find some newer releases on the cheap.

One way is to get on the mailing list of a computer game retailer. You will be sent game reviews, and notifications of new releases as well as coupons and special offers on purchases. When you visit the websites of computer game manufacturers and retailers, take a minute to sign up for their email mailing list. You may not be interested in some of it, especially since reviews are such a matter of personal opinion. However it might be worth it if they email you a coupon code or special deal on a new game.

If you dont want to put up with all that email cluttering your inbox then be sure to check out the Sunday ads. Thats when most retail stores advertise their sales and you may luck out and see a game you have wanted to buy go on sale.

You might be able to buy the computer game cheaper online. The important thing to remember about shopping online is to always comparison shop and factor in your shipping costs. Also, do a quick search for a coupon code for the store you are shopping. You may be able to get a discount or free shipping.

If you are just looking for cheap computer games and dont really care if it the latest game on the market then you might be just as happy buying previously released games. They are just as fun but are less expensive. This is true especially of sports games that have a new version released each year.

Some of the older games have gone on to be come classics. You can usually save money by ordering these online also.

Eventually after the hype of a new game has passed, the price will fall. The games are still great, but everyone is already looking for the next new game. That in a nutshell explains why it is possible you can buy some great cheap computer games if you just want to wait until they have been on the market awhile.

Popularity Of Video Game

by Subhash Kumar

Video Game is an electronic or computerized game played by manipulating images on a video display or television screen.Video games generally each contain different gameplay, objectives, goals, control-schemes, characters, and other features. Each video game is usually contained on a specifically designed multimedia disc or cartridge, which are generally sold separately from the console and each other. In order to play the specific game, you need the specific console for which it was designed.

Computer and Video Game A computer game is a computer-controlled game. A video game is a computer game where a video display such as a monitor or television is the primary feedback device. The term "computer game" also includes games which display only text or which use other methods, such as sound or vibration, as their primary feedback device, but there are very few new games in these categories. There always must also be some sort of input device, usually in the form of button/joystick combinations (on arcade games), a keyboard & mouse/trackball combination (computer games), or a controller (console games), or a combination of any of the above.

Minimum Systems Requirement For Video Game

You can easily make good purchase decisions by knowing just a few details about your PC. Well give you two ways to get those details about your system.

Six crucial pieces of information

1. The Processor speed tells you how fast your computer can "think," or execute its decisions. The processor makes hundreds of thousands of decisions each second, and those are measured in megahertz (MHz) or gigahertz (GHz). 1,000 megahertz equals 1 gigahertz.

2. RAM stands for Random Access Memory, and is often called just "memory." Its measured in megabytes (MB), often called "megs." In the simplest terms, RAM helps the processor by keeping some information "closer" to it. Most machines now ship with at least 64MBor 128 MB of RAM.

3. VRAM is RAM used by the video card in your machine--the video card is the part of the computer that feeds everything visual to the monitor. You could say that like the computers processor, the video card spends much of its time pestering the rest of the computer with questions about what to do next.16MB of VRAM is a fairly common minimum requirement these days, and more and more games demand 32MB. Most mid-line PCs ship with 16-32MB, but 128MB is more and more common for high-end computers.

4. Disk space refers to hard drive space, or "HD" in print. Like RAM and VRAM, its measured in megabytes (or megs, or MB). Youll need space in disk to install the game, and a little more to make room for other files created during play.

5. CD-ROM drive speed. Even after installing, youll need to insert the CD-ROM into the drive to play most games. This helps ensure copyright protection.

6. DirectX version DirectX is the software that manages graphics and sound, and its particularly well designed to run game softwares large bundles of audiovisual data. Games list the oldest version they can work with. If your game demands a new version, you can download it. DirectX is free, and it doesnt take long to install.

Critics of video games

From time to time, video games have been criticized by parents groups, psychologists, politicians, and some religious organizations for allegedly glorifying violence, cruelty, and crime and exposing children to these elements. Some studies have shown that children who watch violent television shows and play violent video games have a tendency to act more aggressively on the playground. These concerns have led to voluntary rating systems adopted by the industry, such as the ESRB rating system in the United States and the PEGI rating system in Europe (see above), that are aimed at educating parents about the types of games their children should or should not be playing.

Most studies, however, reach the conclusion that violence in video games is not causally linked with aggressive tendencies.

The Xbox 360, a parental guide to this game console.

by Simon Goodman

Xbox 360 is the next generation of the Microsoft Xbox. The Xbox 360 can easily be compared to a computer designed for gamming. Most of the games available work on most of the newer Microsoft platforms, (windows).

XBOX 360

There are two versions of the Xbox 360, the "Xbox 360" and the "Xbox 360 Core System".

The most important difference between the two is the detachable 20 Gb hard drive. This makes the use of previous Xbox games possible.
As well as to play original Xbox game, the Xbox 360 enable you to play online.
The new Xbox 360 offers very attractive incentives for game developers to release new titles.

Technical background

The Xbox 360 can easily be compared to a media computer. The graphic card is a powerful ATI 500 MHz chip with 10MB of memory built on the chip.

The CPU itself, (actually 3 processors), is a 3.2GHz liquid cooled IBM using 512MB of memory, (shared between the graphics and the CPU).

The more expensive Xbox 360 has a removable 20GB hard drive and both system use a 12x DVD-ROM unit. Up to four controllers can be connected to the machine, all wirelessly, and there are three standard USB 2.0 port too.

As a rule of thumb, what ever you can plug in your Windows XP machine USB port can be plugged into the Xbox 360. That includes MP3 players, (like the iPod), digital cameras and so on.
This makes the Xbox 360 a very powerful tool to add.

How many games are really available?
<blockquote> The Xbox 360 was launched late 2005, (Xbox was discontinued in august that year), and there are well over 200 games available from the previous version.
As mentioned above only the version with the detachable hard-drive allows you to use the previous games created for Xbox.
Otherwise the current Xbox 360 only has about 15 games solely developed for the Xbox 360. But with the Microsoft muscle behind it, game developers are likely to rapidly develop new games for it.

Get a more detailed info on the Xbox 360.

The Benefits of Computer Games for Children

by Jenny Le

Computer Game industry has become one of the fastest- growing industries in the world. However, it also rises up various opinions of both its benefits and detriments for players, especially for children. Most of the adults whose children play computer-games think that there are more detriments than benefits with these games. Yet, a survey in UK showed that games help children a lot in studying and improving their skills in life.

During the survey, teachers, doctors and scientists were joining in the project and they all found that games give children many chances to express themselves, practice their skills and gain experience in solving the problems.

Nearly 90% of children from 11- 16 years old who said they would like to use games at school agreed that it would make lessons more interesting. However, those surveyed also said that they think games can have negative effects such as reinforcing stereotypical views of people. The problem which must be found out is how to let children reach out to the good effects of games.

What are the benefits of computer games for young players?

First of all, players can surely improve their computer skill. By using mouse, keyboard, and viewing the screen, children can practice their attention on doing something. They can manipulate with the key on the keyboard without eyes. They can observe any performance on the screen generally. Thus, not only in games but also in any other practice with computer, they can work well.

Secondly, playing games requires players to think and find out the best way to win the games. This also helps children to improve the strategic thinking such as problem solving, overcoming tough situations.

Thirdly, in some kinds of computer game, players can not play individually. They must co-operate together to get better result. Today, many games can combine high-tech toys such as voice changer software to help players gathering into a group or a community during their games. Each team or community can choose a distinguished voice by adjusting Pitch and timbre of this voice changer so that teams members can easily recognize their partners or enemies. Such innovative tools help children a lot in discover the technology. Moreover, creating game community allows children improve teamwork skill which supports them a lot in their future jobs.

Children are not alike adults. They prefer playing than studying or serious job. Thats the reason why we must find out ways to helps them collecting information, knowledge, skill fastest and easiest. Let think about computer game, a useful teaching aid which has been proven by science.

Computer Gaming Appropriateness

by Paul Wilson

The onus of minimizing the effects and ensuring that children receive a rounded upbringing falls on parents. It is important to introduce character building activities and to censor games, ensuring suitability. * Study guidelines established by the Entertainment Software Board. They indicate suitability for different age groups. Read the content label which will summarize the game, this will serve as an appropriateness guideline. * Know your child. If you find any signs of being unsettled withdraw games that cause this change in behavior. Introduce games that titillate the imagination and make use of the mind. Avoid violence and aggression. * Visit www.1888freeonlinegames.com, www.ESRB.com this provides game ratings as well as reviews. * Rent a game and play it yourself. First hand knowledge will serve you well. * Communicate with other parents. You will glean the trends, know the popularity. * Play the games with your child. Know their reactions and learn their responses. * Establish an open relationship where your child becomes comfortable even talking about what is inappropriate or disturbing. Establish gently what is right and wrong. Bullying does not help. * Set up the computer and gaming console in a family room. All games will then be out in the open. You will be in a position to judge and monitor. * Feel free to contact the manufacturer and voice your opinion. * Study in detail the plus and minus points of computer usage. * Interact with your child at all levels. * Be a cautious buyer -question claims of advancing brain development. * Introduce a variable routine for your child. Outdoor activities interwoven with computer related activities. * Focus on social and emotional development. The child must be confident, curious, and forthright; display self control; be able to relate linearly, be caring and cooperative, and be communicative. * Choose games that are fun and have a degree of effective learning. * Introduce games that require two or more players--this fosters social interaction. * Playing games should be a privilege not a right. Emphasize that parental approval is a must. * Use games to maximize your childs interests. If the child is mechanical minded purchase games that encourage this talent. * Choose games that require decisions and strategies. Games should be more than shoot, blow up, destroy, and kill. Avoid killer machine games. * Explain why a game is not to be played. Never just take away a game. A child needs to understand why you are against playing certain games. Gaming is a part of life. It introduces computer technology, problem solving, and logic. It improves motor as well as spatial skills. Games are not just entertaining, they can be therapeutic too. Choose wisely and guide your child.

Video Games Overview

by Steve Dimeck

The gaming industry has been exploding in the recent years as games are not only enjoyed by the young generation. The adults are in on it too. Thanks to the computers, being one of the main contributors to this gaming phenomenon, the gaming industry has been very busy with the race of who is going to come up with the more appealing game to take over the market.

The popularity of computer and video games, as a whole, has been increasing steadily. The average age of the video game player is now 29, belying the myth that video games are largely a diversion for teenagers.

Outstandingly, computer games are becoming more and more popular and widely accepted by all generations. In the recent years especially, the so called "console gaming" has swept the world.

The end of 2005, and 2006 saw the next generation of console gaming in the form of continuing advances in processor technology, graphics technology, design innovation, and even platform specific gaming community infrastructure.

Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft are all participating in this "technology race". The second generation Microsoft offering, the Xbox 360, is powered by a multi-core CPU. The PlayStation 3 is powered by cell processor technology. And the Nintendo Revolution allows the gamer to interact with the game via a wireless motion sensing controller.

Nowadays, some of the most popular are computer games, or sometimes called pc games, online games, consoles games, handheld games, and even believe it or not, mobile phone games.

Computer games are often more powerful than console games because of early market releases of their external architecture and graphics cards. They are played on the personal computer with standard computer interface devices such as the keyboard and mouse, or additional peripherals, such as joysticks.

Online gaming originally began with PC games, but has over time expanded to include most modern consoles. It is now a key feature of modern games, with the inclusion of Internet connectivity in consoles such as the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and also in mobile phones.

Console games are specialized computers specifically designed to play games of a certain format. The player usually interacts with the game through a controller, and video and sound are typically delivered to the player via a television, although most modern consoles support additional outputs, such as surround sound setups.

Handheld games are played on handheld game consoles, such as the Nintendo Gameboy, Nintendo DS, and Sony PSP. Because they are designed to be played on the go, they are usually small enough to fit into an average pocket (the virtual boy is an exception to this). Due to their small size, handheld consoles have reduced processing power compared to larger consoles, meaning that games are shorter and until the release of the DS, were limited to 2D only.

Download Computer Games - Before Deciding To Buy One

by John Rivers

The Internet is not only a good source of information on about every subject. You will also find many sites that allow you to download new programs and other useful software that you can copy directly to your computer. It also offers files that contain videos, music and games. Before you can use these files, they first have to be copied to your hard disk. This process is called downloading. Webpages usually have links to downloadable files.

If you click on one of these download links, your browser immediately copies the files onto your computers hard disk drive.

Today, there is a very wide range of different kinds of computer games that you can download. Very often big gaming software companies allow you to download a trial version of a game that they have just released. They call these either trialware or shareware.

Typically, the companies provide shareware so you can download the games and try before buying it. The games usually are demo versions with limited features.

A shareware is accompanied by a request for payment that the person who downloaded the computer game is required to pay after a certain amount of time has past.

Free trial software is one of the main reasons for the rapid growth of the gaming industry. Today the industry is worth more than $10 billion. With games costing an average of $40, its a wise decision to download computer games for trial first. Most new video games released have their own dedicated website, so players can be updated on latest news and sequels. Many of the computer games offering a free trial have a specific mission that the player can try out. In this way he can get a feeling for the scenarios and the overall design of the game.

If you want a new gaming software, there are thousands of downloadable games available on the internet including classic games that you may not find in a regular software store.

Nevertheless there are disadvantages downloading shareware. The main drawback when downloading computer games is that the bigger the file size, the longer it will take your computer to write the information on its hard disk drive. This often can be a tedious process that can tie up your phone line for a long time.

Another factor that may affect the time it takes your computer to download the game is when there are a lot of other users that are trying to download the same file as you.

Then there is the virus worry. Many users worry that downloading a file could result in their computer being infected by a virus. However, times have changed and what was a problem in 2004 is no longer a problem in 2006. Big companies have their websites scanned for viruses on a regular basis and files offered for download are also scanned.

Rent Games Online or Let your Kids Play Games Online

by Jay Coleby

Its risky business allowing your children to play games online. I know that may sound funny but I have a good argument to back up my opinion. If you continue reading I will share it with you.

I work from home on my computer; my computer is my livelihood and it is how I make my money. Allowing my kids to play on my computer also makes my computer susceptible to ad aware, spam and the like. For someone that works from home, this can be a very big problem if my computer ends up infected with a virus! Every single time I go to a cheat code site for my son, I have to go remove the entire ad aware I just picked up. Not to mention that due to my working, I cant always let him sit and play his games and we were both frustrated.

We than saw an ad to rent games online, we have been happy ever since! I have the games shipped to my house, there are no late fees and the monthly fee is a flat rate for unlimited rentals. As you can see, this a win/win situation for us! He gets to play all games he wants and I get to keep my computer.

Rent games online will also save you time and money! No longer will you have to go wait in line to rent a game, you can now have them sent to your door - I have to tell you, this is my favorite part. Along with saving money of course!

Console Gaming vs. Computer Gaming

by Jared Strop

Its an age-old question that will only get more and more intense in the coming year as the Xbox 360 is in full swing and the PS3 and Revolution release. Which is better? What system is right for me? Well, I would suggest both, but if you have to choose one or the other then you have to consider a few things.

Price is definitely a big issue. I mean, whens the last time you didnt even bat an eye when are buying something 500 bucks or more? The bottom line: Computer gaming is more expensive. Why? Because computers arent made just for games. They are calculators, word processors, Internet navigators, music players, movie watchers, and photo editors. They are much more than a gaming machine. Consoles, on the other hand, generally arent. Its only recently that consoles have gone online starting with the Dreamcast and I havent seen anyone printing off spreadsheets or book reports from one yet. Consoles are purely for gaming and run between 100-500 bucks. PCs on the other hand are much more than a gaming machine and run between 1,500-3,000 dollars and need to be upgraded every now and again to play the newest and greatest games.

Genre is an issue. If you are a Real Time Strategy fan and only have a console, I mourn for you. And if you are a platformer fan, then computer gaming will be a sad mistake. Genre makes a big deal because of the controller vs. keyboard/mouse issue. Different games play much better on the different configurations. Computer gaming is best for Real Time Strategy (RTS) games, First Person Shooters (FPS), Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORG), Flight Simulation games, and Point and Click Adventure games. The consoles on the other hand are better for Fighting games, Action/Adventure games, Platformers, Role Playing Games (RPG), and Sports games.

Tech savvy can possibly be an issue. Computers are a little more unstable than consoles. I mean, whens the last time you saw a Playstation lock up or get a blue screen of death? Never, right? The same thing comes in here. Some computer games might be a little stubborn to set up the way your computer likes it or your computer might not meet the system requirements. Consoles, on the other hand, dont have that problem. The people designing the games have to fit the requirements of the console so that you dont have a problem. If you have a basic knowledge of computers, youll be fine. If you dont, then a console might be better for you.

So as Ive explained, if you want more than a gaming system for school and work or you just like gaming genres like RTS and MMORG games, I would go with a PC. If you love platformers, Action/Adventure, or Sports games or your wallet is a tad on the empty side, Id go with a console. It wont be able to surf the Internet or help you with anything else, but itll play some great games.

If you want a console by the end of this article, then you have 3 options at the moment. You could buy a Gamecube if you like innovation, buy a Xbox if you like the best graphics and FPS games, or buy a PS2 if you want a huge library of games or love fighting games, Action/Adventure games, platformers, and RPG games. You also have another option. You could wait until the Xbox 360 comes out this month and get that or wait until the Nintendo Revolution and PS3 come out next year.
